- 100g Cashew nuts
- 3 tsp sesame seeds
- 3 tomatoes pureed
- 3 tsp oil
- whole garam masala
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp kasoori methi
- 1 tsp sugar
- salt to taste
- whipped cream for garnishing
The reason its called Jain Matar paneer is because a sect of Indians who follow Jainism dont eat anything which is below Ground (Onions, Garlic, Ginger to name a few). So this one goes for my Travian friend Dr. Tapan. Vora….:)
Soak cashew nuts in warm water for 30 mts.
Mix cashew nuts and sesame seeds together in a blender and grind to make a smooth paste.
Make tomato puree of 3 tomatoes by cutting them and grinding them to a smooth paste.
Heat oil in a pan, add whole garam masala and add tomato puree. Cook till Puree starts drying up and becomes thick.
Add cashew and sesame seeds paste and cook for 2 mts.
Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and cook for 5 mts.
Add water, mix and cook for 5-10 mts.
Add paneer, green peas, salt, kasoori methi mix and cook for 5-10 mts.
finally add some cream to decorate the dish.
